The Karbon connector gives DeskMate access to:
  • Contacts and organizations (your clients) — read, create, update
  • Client groups — read
  • Work items (jobs/tasks) — read, create, update
  • Work templates — read
  • Notes — read, create (attached to a client or work-item timeline)
  • Staff — read
  • Invoices and timesheets — read
Karbon connects with an API key pair — a Bearer Token and an Access Key — created inside your Karbon account. There’s no OAuth redirect; you paste both values into DeskMate once.

Prerequisites

  • A Karbon subscription with API access enabled (ask Karbon support if you don’t see the API under Connected Apps)
  • A Karbon administrator login to create the credentials

Get your credentials from Karbon

  1. Sign in to Karbon
  2. Go to Settings → Connected Apps → Karbon API
  3. Copy the Access Key
  4. Generate (or copy) a Bearer Token from the same screen
Treat the Bearer Token like a password — anyone holding it can read your practice data.

Connect

  1. In DeskMate, open Workspace → Connectors
  2. Click Connect on the Karbon tile
  3. Paste the Bearer Token and Access Key
  4. Click Connect — the tile turns green

Verify it’s working

Try this in DeskMate chat:
The connector’s Connection health panel should also read Healthy — practice users readable within a few seconds of connecting.

Good to know

  • “Client” means two things in Karbon — a person (contact) or a company (organization). DeskMate checks both when you ask about a client by name.
  • Work items from templates — when you ask DeskMate to create a templated job, it lists your work templates first and uses the template’s key.
  • Rate limits — Karbon allows 120 API requests per minute; DeskMate paces itself and retries automatically.

Troubleshooting

Connection health shows “down”

One of the two values is wrong or was revoked. Re-copy both from Karbon → Settings → Connected Apps → Karbon API and reconnect.

Karbon revoked the token

Tokens can be revoked from Karbon’s Connected Apps screen. Generate a new Bearer Token and reconnect in DeskMate.

Disconnecting

In Workspace → Connectors, click Disconnect. To revoke on the Karbon side, remove the token under Settings → Connected Apps.
